What Cavendish does

Cavendish gives ×3 Mult every scored hand, with a 1 in 1000 chance to self-destruct at the end of each round. Cavendish is multiplicative, which is rare among Common jokers.

The destruction risk is so low (~0.1% per round) that across a full 24-round run, the cumulative chance of losing Cavendish is roughly 24 × 0.001 = 2.4%. For practical purposes, Cavendish is permanent.

Cavendish is hidden behind Gros Michel

Cavendish is not in the shop pool by default. To unlock Cavendish, you must first have Gros Michel destroy itself naturally (Gros Michel has 1 in 6 chance to self-destruct per round, giving Cavendish a chance to appear afterward).

Once Gros Michel is destroyed in any prior run, Cavendish appears in the shop pool for that and future runs.

So practically: get Gros Michel early, accept it will probably die mid-run, then look for Cavendish in subsequent shops.

Cavendish vs Gros Michel

Gros Michel (also Common): +15 Mult flat, 1 in 6 chance to destroy. Cavendish: ×3 Mult, 1 in 1000 chance to destroy.

Cavendish is strictly better on both axes — higher multiplicative effect, vastly lower destruction risk. Once Cavendish is unlocked, Gros Michel becomes a way to eventually get Cavendish.

For pure scoring, Cavendish is one of the best Common jokers in the game.

Cavendish + Oops! All 6s pitfall

Be careful: Oops! All 6s doubles "X in Y" probabilities. With Oops! active, Cavendish's destruction chance becomes 2 in 1000 — still tiny. But Gros Michel's 1 in 6 becomes 2 in 6 (1 in 3) — much more likely to die.

If you're running an Oops! build, expect Gros Michel to die fast (which can be desirable — it unlocks Cavendish faster).

Cavendish + Blueprint / Brainstorm

Cavendish's ×3 is multiplicative. Blueprint copying Cavendish = another ×3 per hand from one slot. Brainstorm same.

The slot order: put Cavendish leftmost, Blueprint and Brainstorm in copy positions. This makes Brainstorm reliable (always reading Cavendish as leftmost).

A ×3 + Blueprint ×3 = ×9 per hand from two slots. Adding Brainstorm = ×27 per hand from three slots. Compare to Triboulet's similar chain (×3 per face card scored): Cavendish hits every hand unconditionally, Triboulet requires face cards.

Cavendish + Canio synergy (indirect)

If Cavendish self-destructs and you have Canio (×1 Mult per face card destroyed) with Pareidolia (all cards count as face), Cavendish's destruction is a +×1 Canio gain. Tiny chance, but a positive failure mode.

What kills Cavendish

  • Random destruction: 1 in 1000 per round. Statistically negligible but theoretically possible.
  • Joker-destruction Boss Blinds (The Verdant Leaf, The Plant — debuff cards, not jokers — so safe). Madness (destroys random joker per Blind) IS a real threat.

Pair Cavendish with Negative tag to make it Negative — Negative jokers can't be destroyed by Madness.

When to take, when to skip

Take Cavendish:

  • Always, when available. Cavendish is one of the best Common jokers in the game.
  • Blueprint + Brainstorm chain anchor.
  • Early-mid run for compounding ×3 across many hands.

Skip Cavendish:

  • Almost never. Even at Ante 7, ×3 mult per hand is worth picking.
  • Only skip if joker slots are completely full of higher-value jokers (Triboulet, Yorick at ×20+, etc.).
