What Blueprint actually copies

Blueprint reads the joker directly to its right every time scoring fires, and re-applies that joker's full effect from Blueprint's own slot. The copy is live, not a snapshot — if the target joker's state changes mid-round, Blueprint follows.

What it does NOT copy:

  • Retrigger jokers (Hanging Chad, Sock and Buskin, Mime). Blueprint copying these does nothing on its own slot.
  • A joker's accumulated growth onto Blueprint. Hologram, Madness, Vampire, Constellation, Green Joker — they keep gaining mult on themselves, not on Blueprint. Blueprint just reads their current value and applies it as a second instance.
  • The "1 in X chance" rolls don't share. Blueprint next to Bloodstone re-rolls its own dice, so you get two independent chances per scored card.

Best targets: conditional X-Mult

Multiplicative effects double through Blueprint. The bigger the target's multiplier, the more Blueprint gains per slot.

  • Triboulet (+3× per King/Queen scored): one face card with Blueprint + Triboulet → ×9 from that card alone. Four faces → ×81 × ×81 = ×6561.
  • Yorick (gains X1 Mult every 23 discarded cards): late-run Yorick at ×20 mult means Blueprint adds another ×20 in one slot.
  • Hologram / Madness / Constellation: Blueprint reads their current X-mult and applies it again — doubling effective multiplier without taking the second slot to grow your own.

Worst targets

  • Flat +Mult jokers (Joker, Half Joker). Blueprint adds another +4 or +20 mult — that's it. Costs a slot to do what a different joker would do better.
  • Economy / utility jokers (Credit Card, Egg, Faceless Joker, Cloud 9). Their effect is round-end or per-event, not per-scored-card — Blueprint mostly wastes its trigger.
  • Trading Card / To Do List / Cavendish. These have destruction or one-shot conditions Blueprint can't usefully re-roll.

Blueprint + Brainstorm: the legendary chain

Brainstorm copies the leftmost joker. Blueprint copies the one to its right. Together they can both point at the same target.

Slot order Brainstorm | Blueprint | Triboulet:

  • Brainstorm reads slot 1 — which is Brainstorm itself? No: Brainstorm reads the leftmost OTHER joker effectively as the leftmost slot, which means it sees itself. Brainstorm copying Brainstorm is a no-op. Put Brainstorm to the right of Blueprint and Triboulet instead.

Slot order Triboulet | Blueprint | Brainstorm:

  • Blueprint reads Brainstorm → reads Triboulet (leftmost) → fires Triboulet.
  • Brainstorm reads Triboulet directly.
  • Triboulet fires itself.

That's 3× Triboulet from 3 slots. With 4 face cards: ×3⁴ × ×3⁴ × ×3⁴ = ×531,441.

Slot math: is Blueprint worth it?

Blueprint pays for itself when the target joker contributes more than the next best joker you'd otherwise put in the slot. Rule of thumb: take Blueprint once your strongest joker is X3 mult or higher and you don't have something obviously better.

Below that threshold, a fresh scaling joker usually beats a copy of your current best.
