Hit the Road
This Joker gains 0.5 Mult for every Jack discarded this round (Currently )
How Hit the Road grows
Hit the Road gains ×0.5 Mult permanently for every Jack you discard during a round. The growth carries over forever — discards in Ante 2 still pay off in Ante 8.
A normal deck has 4 Jacks. With 3 discards per round and ideal Jack draws, the ceiling is 4 Jacks × 4-5 visible per round = a few discards per round on a good day. Realistically you bank 1-2 Jack discards per round across the run.
| Total Jacks discarded | Hit the Road mult |
|---|---|
| 5 | ×2.5 |
| 10 | ×5 |
| 20 | ×10 |
| 30 | ×15 |
A focused Hit the Road run can comfortably hit ×10-×15 by Ante 8.
How to find more Jacks
Hit the Road's ceiling is set by how many Jacks pass through your hand. To raise it:
- Strength tarot: converts the rank of a card up by 1. Convert 10s to Jacks, then discard.
- Death tarot: copies one card's rank onto another. Make non-Jacks into Jacks.
- Familiars / Grim / Incantation (Spectrals): create face cards in your deck, some of which are Jacks.
- Ouija: converts all cards in deck to one rank — pick Jack and now every discard is a Hit the Road trigger.
Ouija is the dream pull: a deck where every card is a Jack means every single discard feeds Hit the Road. Three discards per round = ×1.5 growth per round, easily ×30+ by Ante 8.
Hit the Road + Burnt Joker
Both reward discarding. Hit the Road wants you to discard Jacks; Burnt wants you to discard a hand type. Pick a Jack-based hand:
- Discard 5 Jacks (or a four-of-a-kind on Jacks) → triggers Burnt's Four of a Kind upgrade AND gives Hit the Road 4-5 stacks at once.
- This is the cleanest "feed two growth jokers per discard" line in the game.
What Hit the Road needs
Hit the Road shines when paired with Yorick and Burnt Joker in a discard-volume build. The three of them turn every discard into compounding value:
- Yorick: gains mult per 23 discards regardless of card type.
- Hit the Road: gains mult per Jack discarded.
- Burnt: levels your hand type permanently.
Add Drunkard / Faceless Joker for +discards and the engine self-fuels.
When to take, when to skip
Take Hit the Road:
- Early run with a Jack-finding tool (Strength, Death, Familiar) or Erratic Deck rolled with extra Jacks.
- You're already on a discard-heavy build (Yorick + Burnt).
- You have Ouija available or plan to chase Spectral Packs.
Skip Hit the Road:
- Discard-light playstyle (Stuntman, low-discard deck without compensation).
- The Water boss is upcoming with no Chicot.
- Late acquisition with limited rounds remaining.
